Biography

Born and bred in Berlin, Monika studied music before moving to London and later to Southampton. Having spent a long time bringing up a family since, she has now rekindled her musical activity, including songwriting, and become a regular at various open mic nights around Southampton, whilst also co-running the Open Mic at the Dolphin in St Denys every Thursday.

She has performed at venues including The Joiners, Talking Heads, The Maple Leaf, The Hobbit and The Dolphin, and supported Britpop band Dodgy on their Out In The Open tour. She has also played at Bursfest, Trifest, All Aboard, Music In The City and Moosickal Mondays in October Bookshop as well as various charity events.

Her music is mostly a voice and a guitar, influenced by anything from classic rock to prog, the lyrics ranging from social conscience to politics, interspersed with witty and thoughtful songs, but she stays clear of meaningless bland love songs.
